Leuven, BE – in 2019, 36 years after the start of Radio Singjaal, the popular station from Leuven was revived by some faithful radio friends. With a brand new studio, the new name-Radio Singjaal- and an experienced team of enthusiastic volunteers, Radio Singjaal is now making a comeback as an online station on radiosingjaal.be.
One year after the revival, Radio Singjaal adopted SmartRadio, the Radio-as-a-service solution from Broadcast Partners. This new way of radio production is a good fit to Singjaal’s plans. It combines the wide range of programs, which are produced at different locations, into a fantastic daily programming, from 7 am to midnight.
“For the past 6 months, SmartRadio has really given our Radio Singjaal colleagues the freedom to carry out their specialism from any convenient location. This cloud solution gives us access to our station anywhere, anytime… ”explains one of the project initiators, Geert Kinnaert. “Our program makers do an excellent job and SmartRadio helps us tie our programs together, stream them online and also make them available on-demand. All programs are normalized to -9dB on import, with automatic starting points and at the back Smart Processing ensures a great sound. Due to the modular construction of SmartRadio, we only use the modules that we need and can easily expand in the future if desired. “

Our plan was to make SmartRadio accessible to all kinds of radio stations, local, regional and/or national. ” SmartRadio also provides a way to handle cloud and web-based news broadcasts for Radio Singjaal’s stream. In addition, extensive now and next on-air metadata is sent to the site and the app. Radio Singjaal schedules programming by using the Smart Scheduler that is connected live with their database, in combination with the Smart Non-Stop Player.
